Blocked tube: The eustachian tubes allow air to travel from the throat to the inside of the ear drum to keep the pressure same on both sides of the ear drum. When you have swelling or secretions in your throat, the opening can get plugged and the pressure can't equalize. Sometimes treating the sore throat or nasal congestion will open it, try yawning, swallowing or blowing your nose with your nostrils pinched.

Hot shower or Rx: Your Eustachian Tubes are clogged. Ask your physician or pharmacist for a medication to reduce the inflammation. As an alternative, let your head and neck be under a hot shower (do not burn yourself), as this helps to reduce the inflammation.
