Leukemia & High WBCs: An elevated white cell count can indicate an infection as well as leukemia. Other tests can be run to arrive at the correct diagnosis; i would follow up with your physician soon.

White count : It depends upon how high it is. You can rule out cll, cml, AML those 3 common leukemias if differential is completely normal.

No: The way the cells look is more important. Chronic lymphocytic leukemia will show elevated lymphocytes. Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (all) may be "aleukemic" with normal or low white count. If you are concerned about leukemia, your physician needs to talk frankly with you and a hematologist consult may be in order in any case. Good luck.
