Is severe itching common with jra?

Not with JRA per se: Itching is not a usual symptom of jra. It may be a reaction to some medication. You may wish to consult this site for more information. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/pmh0001487/.

No: No, not typically. More likely eczema or some other condition that is not being adequately treated. I recommend seeing a dermatologist who can evaluate the rash and do a biopsy of the rash if necessary.
