About hives...: Hives are raised itchy bumps, splotches, or welts caused by histamine, a chemical released during an allergic-type reaction. Blocking histamine by taking oral anti-histamine can help prevent new hives from forming, and help current hives fade away. A doctor can evaluate to see if anything needs to be done. Hives can be from viruses, pollens, foods, drugs, chemicals, emotions, exercise, etc...
