What are the side effects of living without ovaries?

Dr. John Paas answered

Menopause: Having the ovaries removed causes the same symptoms as when they naturally cease to function (ie, menopause). Many women experience hot flashes and/ or night sweats, as well as vaginal dryness as the result of declining estrogen levels. Additionally, accelerated decline in bone density occurs, predisposing one to osteoporosis. These symptoms can be managed with hormone replacement therapy.
