Yes: Fibroids, benign cysts, endometriomas, and endometriosis can all result in a positive ca-125 test. Ca-125 is not a good screening test for ovarian cancer because there are so many causes of false positives. And furthermore, 50% of st 1 ovarian cancer may have a negative ca-125. Nonetheless, if you have a positive ca-125 and an ovarian cyst, it will probably need to be explored.

Non specific test: Ca 125, a protein frequently found in ovarian cancer can also be found in other diseases. We have seen high levels when there is end stage alcoholic cirrhosis producing ascites which might suggest ovarian Ca but ovaries are normal. Protein produced by liver. Ca 125 should only be used for monitoring direction of treatment when dx of ovarian tumor known. It is not a diagnostic test.
