It's hard to say: I first wonder about the age of your daughter. What you describe, especially in a young child, could be a temper tantrum. It could also be something more serious, even some sort of a seizure. If you leave the room immediately, as soon as the "spell" begins, but still keep an eye on your daughter, does it still occur? If she only does it when you're present- then it's behavioral in nature.

Conversion Disorder,: If no medical reasons are found.The physical symptoms are likely an attempt to resolve her internal conflict: i.e., a teen who believes it's not acceptable to have violent feelings may suddenly feel stiff & numb after becoming so angry that she wanted to hit someone, instead of allowing herself to have violent thoughts about hitting that person. It can last a few weeks. Psychotherapy helps.
