No: There are many pain control options during labor, the most effective being an epidural. However, when labor first starts contractions will be painful, so while an epidural can relieve most pain associated with labor (although sometimes not the sensation of pressure!) it is highly unlikely that a completely painless labor exists, but we can make it more comfortable.

Maybe not good?: Pain is one of the bummers of childbirth for moms. However, studies have shown that the pain is actually important as it causes the release of important hormones that enhance bonding between mom and baby. This is not to say that mom's who get epidurals or c-sections don't bond appropriately. However, the pain is an important part of the picture.
