Unclear: If the dr's who assessed you and determined that this is from your hypothalamus, it's difficult to disagree with them. Occipital neuralgia is usually a disorder from the greater occipital nerve and can have many causes. It's difficult for me to make the correlation between the hypothalamus but there is a thalamic pain syndrome called dejerine-roussy but it usually involves more than one nerve.
