That gives relief: Which make you better is the best treatment. To start with good high fiber diet, local care, regular normal bowel movements, free from pain, and no loss of blood ( colonoscopy to rule out cancer) . If all these measures fail, having frequent recurrences, final option left is one of accepted surgical procedure.

afew days: If not thrombosed, or 2-3 weeks if thrombosed. Repeated attacks will leave redundant skin tags which are not hemorrhoids, and they will persist once formed unless you have surgery to remove them, which i generally do not recommend unless having more extensive hemorrhoid surgery anyway.
