A member asked:

My calf cramped up an it's been sore an cramping up for a week now. feels like someone kicked me.. people told me its from not enough potassium an water.. true?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: There are lots of reasons for leg cramps, while it is true that low blood potassium levels in your blood may cause cramps, your levels are probably normal unless you are taking a medication that lowers potassium. The potassium you get is from your diet. Another potential cause of cramps is blood clots . See your md for evaluation.
