Supportive: Any shoes that has support and fit confortably should be fine. Normal cadance and gait starts at age 3.

New Balance running : I feel the new balance brand is the most accommodative shoe in the market. They come in all widths (up to 4e) which helps people with hammertoes, bunions, etc. I also recommend running shoes over walking shoes because of the added cushion on the forefoot are of the foot.
