US average =$47,000: The average us salary/income is about $47, 000 for the 2011/12 survey. It is indeed a difficult time for many and more people are living under poverty level since the recession hits us 3-4 yrs ago. I suggest finding ways to reduce nonessential spending--tv/cable/phone, energy cost for home (winterize the house), club membership etc...Talk to parents/financial planner for help. Good luck.
