Depends on cause: Allergy, virus, dry eyes, blepharitis, etc. See an eye doctor. For the itchiness, you can use over-the-counter zaditor (ketotifen) eye drops.

Drops: If it is allergic or simply dryness, try over the counter allergy drops and non-preserved artificial tears. If it does not improve, see and eye specialist.
