Big bunions: Bunions are bony deformities of the first or fifth metatarsals in the feet. Bunions are mainly genetic in origin and can begin to grow as a teenager. Exercises of the great toe joint can help. Corrective orthotics can be made and worn in shoes for daily use. Eventually a corrective bunionectomy can be done.

Stopping bunions: Bunions don't really grow. They get larger as the bone before the great toe rotates out. This is because of your foot type, foot mechanics, and heredity. The only way to eliminate a bunion is with surgery. If the bunion is minor and not painful, you can stop it from progressing with a custom shoe insole called an orthotic. You should see your podiatrist to see what the right treatment is.

One way : Is to prevent pressure on the bone. Pressure on bone causes bone to grow. So, if your shoe is rubbing on the first metatarsal head more bony prominence can occur. Only surgery can remove a bunion as it is a structural deformity.
