How can i re-align a growing bunion?

See below.: Only way to get rid of a bunion is with surgery since this is a structural deformity. Other non-surgical treatments are wider shoes, orthotics, padding. In some instances an occasional injection may help reduce pain and inflammation, although this should be only done sparingly.

You can't: Bunions are progressive, structural deformities. The deformity only gets worse, they don't get better. You can improve the symptoms with better shoes, but you can't improve the deformity. As my rule of thumb: if the deformity bothers you on a regular basis or is limiting your activity, then surgery is an option to consider. See your foot specialist for evaluation and treatment discussion. Dr l.

"You" cannot.: A bunion is a complex, generally progressive deformity. You will need an X-ray to properly evaluate it. Custom foot orthotics can slow the progression. Only surgery can "re-align" a structural bunion deformity which is medically known as hallux abducto valgus.

Difficult without : Surgery. They do make various splints but surgery would be most effective way.

Bunion: Most effective way is to realign it with surgery. The bone is cut and shifted back into its proper position but there are many types of procedures and the right one for you needs to be discussed with your doctor after x-rays and testing for hyper mobility . Good luck!

Surgery: To permanently re-align a bunion means surgery. There are an overwhelming 200+ procedures described to achieve this! Most of these are fairly historical. The workhorse operations are generally a combination of a soft tissue releases and a break in the bone (osteotomy) to realign the toe- most commonly a Scarf or Chevron osteotomy. If you also have arthritis a fusion (arthrodesis) is reasonable
