Will methadone cause any adverse reaction when having several teeth extracted under general anesthesia ?

No: Methadone will have no effect on the extraction of teeth. It will however interfear with the efficacy of the general anesthesia. Be sure to let the oral surgeon know that you take Methadone and the dosage you are on.

Should be no problem: As long as you are on a relatively stable dose of methadone, your anesthesiologist will be able to assess your needs and plan your anesthetic to ensure your safety and comfort.

No: A baseline dose of Methadone will not have any adverse reactions with general anesthesia. However, you will need relatively more pain medication after the operation than someone who is not on methadone.
