Compression in tmj: One possible answer for this condition is compression in the jaw joint. As the muscles that opens and closes the jaw becomes too powerful with repetitive motion, the teeth will wear down and cause a vertical loss of height which translates to loss of space in the jaw joint. This can put pressure on the ear canal.A hard plastic occlusal guard can restore the space and working length of the muscles.
