Only if it returns: At age 29, a sudden onset of tinnitus can follow a viral infection or a vasculitis. If you are not a diabetic, and if it does not return, do not worry. One more thing. Exposure to loud noise can also precipitate an acute onset of tinnitus, such as a rock concert.
