Could be: Cold sores don't always show up on the lip or inside the mouth. They can form inside the nose as well. Generally, they will be rather painful when they show.

Possibly: Possibly it could be an infection transmitted via contact but it could just be abrasion from multiple blowing the nose and wiping the nose. A medicated ointment would help.
