Aspiration: These cysts can go away on their own with time. If it is bothering you see a hand surgeon who can aspirate(remove the fluid from the cyst). If the cyst comes back and is painful you can consider surgical removal.

Wait and see: Ganglion cysts are very common on the top of the wrist. Sometimes they go away on their own, but that tends not to be the case if it's been there for a while. If you bump it hard enough on something, you may find that it changes in size or goes away completely. It might be worth seeing a hand surgeon to make sure it's a cyst.

It may or may not...: Treatment options for dorsal hand/wrist ganglion cysts include observation, aspiration/injection, and surgical excision. Medications rarely are effective. Treatment is based on the size of the cyst, location, and the level of symptoms present.

Ganglion cyst: Evaluation, xray, injection, drainage are part of a workup. Many cysts do not hurt so an xray of the joint may give information about this. Old fracture, arthritis, inflammation, an old ligament injury, rheumatoid arthritis, DJD with ganglions see a hand surgeon. http://www.assh.org/public/handconditions/pages/ganglioncysts.aspx https://twitter.Com/drwint.
