I have polymyalgia, take 10 mg of predisone a day, will the prednisone fight infection or just control pain?

Treats the disease: If you are referring to polymyalgia rheumatica, steroids treat the underlying inflammatory process which results in resolution of your pain. Over time your disease should go away. Steroids do not fight infection and in fact can make infections worse.
