Several tthings!: If it is in the cartilage, you have chondrocalcinosis, which can cause pseudgout. Parathyroidism and hemochromatosis are conditions that are serious, if this is what you have. In most instances, no cause is found, but it should be treated. Calcification can occur around the knee (pellgrini steada) because of bleedeing and heterotopic bone formation. I therefore cannot answer your problem as well!
