Calcific Tendinitis: Rare in the knee, much more common in the achilles or rotator cuff. Options include nsaids or cortisone injections for the inflammation. Pt specifically with eccentric exercises can be helpful. Some have tried needling the deposits to break them up. Sometimes can resolve on its own with time. Ultimately surgery is an option.
