May remain enlarged: Tonsils help to fight infection and may enlarge in the process, taking lengthy times to return ti normal size if at all. If you no longer have symptoms, ignore. If symptoms return you should go to see a doctor at a free or university clinic where your lack of insurance may not be an impediment.
