A member asked:

What is cotrimoxazole staph and what treatment can we use?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Confusion: Cotrimoxazole is an antibiotic which is a combination of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole (smx/tmp). Staph stands for staphylococcus, a genus of bacteria. Sometimes smx/tmp will be used in the treatment of staphylococcal infections. The treatment of these infections depends upon the sensitivity of the species and its varients causing the infection.
