A lifetime, as usual: Staph bacteria are naturally with us, every single one of us. We are born without bacteria, and start getting bacteria the moment we come out. We get the staph bacteria on our outer body, and also in places like noses and ears. Some staph strains are worse than others, but as long as the staph is on the outside of oneself, no worries unless household members are getting infections on the inside.
