A member asked:

My newborn(13 days old) is always hungry, would it be ok to start bottle feeding and keep breastfeed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Be patient : Newborns are wired to suckle 24/7 as a reflex. Try not to confuse the reflex with hunger. If baby has just eaten, the stomach is not sending that message, but baby may accept a feed for comfort if offered. Breast fed stomachs can empty every 2 hours, formula taked longer. Newborns grow fast and eat often. If baby is wetting every 4-6 hrs s/he doesn't need supplements.
