Is there always pain associated with a hip stress fracture or could you have one undiagnosed for awhile because there isn't pain?

There is pain.: Although there is always pain with a hip stress fracture, sometimes the pain is not enough for certain people to seek treatment. Because of this, frequently hip stress fractures are frequently undiagnosed until the pain worsens enough to demand attention.

Almost always: Although pain may be reduced or absent when off of the hip or not bearing weight, it will always tend to come back with weight bearing.

Sometimes: Yes, usually painful. Could be dull pain which you may not associate with a fracture. Important to have correct treatment so the fracture doesn't progress and worsen.
