A 36-year-old member asked:
What can you tell me about a stress fracture in the hip?

Several months: A stress fracture in the hip is more
serious than almost any other
stress fractures.
It will take several months to heal
and is unusual in that it is one
of the few stress fractures that may
require surgical fixation to allow the
best result.

Pain: Usually with feet: increasing severity of pain with walking, can be accompanied by swelling, bruising and tenderness to touch at the site of the break. X-rays won't necessarily show anything until a few weeks later, when healing activity can be visible. Improves slowly with immobilization in a cast, rest, over eight weeks or so.

A 19-year-old female asked:
What are the symptoms of a stress fracture in your hip/pelvis? And treatment?

I guess pain: "hip/pelvis stress fracture" a curious medical diagnosis & one this doctor has never heard for symptoms in these structurally firm bone regions. Fractures (cracks) in these bones by & large occur from significant trauma & not from repetative biomechanical "stress"; unless person has severely advanced demineralization or wasting of bone mass & integrity from advanced age and/or a specific disease.
