Possible: It depends where the screws are located. Although, if you have a deep seaing pain, one of the screws may be impinging or rubbing up against a nerve. Talk with your surgeon and ask him if this is the case. Don't forget that post op swelling may also cause some of the pain.

Not enough info: When did you have these items placed in your foot? Recently? Long time ago....?
Important stuff to know. If recent and pain is that bad, you call the office and tell them that and you see the doctor this week, why should you have to wait till the 29th?

Middle toe: Gout, ingrown toe nail, wound, infection, trauma, fracture, tumor etc. There are too many variables for swollen painful toe but your local podiatrist can help you with this.

??larva migrans: if you walk barefoot on soil with hookworms-can cause these--would have to see this.these will dry out with no treatment tho--dont walk bare foot in the fields

Gout: Gout is the most common cause for this as long as no trauma. This would be gout until proven otherwise. If no history and this is first case best to have your provider take a look.
