Ask an orthodontist: If teeth and jaws don't mesh properly they don't function properly, wear prematurely, and can cause damage to supporting bone, jaw muscles, and the jaw joint. Straight teeth are easier to care for, look better, and require less cost for maintenance.

Probably...: For most people, teeth come into the mouth slightly (or more than slightly) crooked. Dentists & orthodontists often recommend braces to move them to an ergonomic more efficient position which will help your chewing be more efficient, reduce tooth wear and improve your hygiene (and usually looks better). This spells better oral health & can save you significantly more than the cost. Ask your dds.

Seek an opinion: Most people can benefit from some orthodontic tooth movement when they present with malposed teeth that can lead to excessive wear (attrition), bone loss, muscle spasms , and jaw joint issues. Moreover, properly aligned and meshed teeth are more attractive and easier to maintain. Ask an orthodontist for an evaluation to determine if braces would be of significant benefit to you.
