Brush and flush: Electric toothbrushes and water-piks are effective in removing food particles caught in braces. Small, convenient christmas tree-shaped toothbrushes can be used when it is not convenient or feasible to use the abovementioned. These brushes can be obtained from your dental professional or local pharmacy/supermarket.

Carefully: You don't want to dislodge the braces. First of all, avoid hard, sticky, chewy foods like the plague. Brush 2x/day for 2 full minutes by the clock. Clean between teeth daily w floss, inter proximal brush, or my favorite--water pik. Ask your qualified orthodontic specialist for list of foods to avoid (for example, bagels break braces) and for the best cleaning regimen.
