Viral Cause?: If you're having symptoms for several weeks and antibiotics are not working, there is a possibility that you may have a viral illness. Viruses are not alive and do not respond to antibiotics. Follow the advice of your family practice physician after the results of the x-rays have come back. Try supportive treatments: fluids, rest, salt water gargles, tylenol/ibuprofen for body aches.
