A member asked:

Cochlear implants: why are they bad?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

They aren't bad: Just not for everyone. Cochlear implants can provide excellent results in a good candidate.Younger patients do much better than older patients. It is a big surgery that requires extensive work with audiologists after the surgery. Like most things it requires careful thought and talking to experts trained in the surgery prior to undergoing it. It can be a life hanging event so a lot of thought.
