Cochlear implants: Cochlear implants are surgically implanted devices to treat bilateral severe to profound hearing loss. There is mild to moderate discomfort during the first 1-2 weeks of recovery, but pain is not expected thereafter. Results with rehabilitation/therapy are excellent. If you are interested in learning more about cochlear implants, I would be happy to arrange a virtual consult with you.
