Meningitis: Meningitis which is the infection of the meninges especially the bacterial one if not treated early and effectvely can cause sensorineuronal hearing loss due to extended infection to the inner ear which contain the cochlea, and also same thing for the implanted cochlea.

Immunizations: An important issue for people with cochlear implants is that they get the recommended immunizations to reduce their risk of meningitis.
