A member asked:

I read that if you can't touch your toes, you have scoliosis. is this true?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: No, a person will have trouble bending forward to touch his toes if his back is not flexible enough. Most teens with scoliosis are flexible and can bend over far enough to touch their toes. As people age, and do less stretching or exercise, they can lose flexibility and end up unable to touch their toes, regardless of whether or not they have scoliosis.
