With a dry socket what is the blood clot supposed to look like?

In a dry socket: There is no clot and that is why they hurt so much. The clots job is to act like a ban aid to protect the bone while the tissue heals. When lost they are very painful and need to be treated by the dentist daily for two-three weeks while the tissue fills in.
