Nonsurgical treatmen: Interventional radiologist treats these varicose veins of the spermatic cord using coils passed into the veins as an alternative to surgery.

Here it is ...: Varicocele embolization is done exactly like performing venogram of inferior vena cava to reach the opening where testicular vein drains into left renal vein or inferior vena cava on the right one, & interventional radiologist deploys coil + occluding substance so to eliminate gravitation pressure down to varicocle. The available studies claimed its outcome as favorable as micro-varicocelectomy.

Plugging the veins: A varicocele is an abnormal cluster of veins, swollen up by some blockage of the blood flow going away from those veins, to go back towards the heart. A way to prevent blood from entering the varicocele and swelling up the abnormal veins is to plug some blood vessels leading to the varicocele. Embolization is the name of the procedure where something is placed in the blood vessels to block them.

Simple: Varicocele embolization treats the source of the problem not the site. The left gonadal vein is the most commonly treated vein to effectively treat a patient with varicocele. It arises from the left renal vein in the abdomen. Coil embolization and liquid scleroscents combined have the best durability. Your urologist should send you for a consultation with a vascular and interventional radiologist.

A way to block...: Varicocele embolization is an innovative means to treat voricocele at need with injecting embolizing coil + sclerosing agent to induce proximal level at spermatic vein entering left renal vein performed by interventional radiologists, so to cause blocking spermatic vein and in time, collapsing varicocele, with a claim of improving semen quality and pregnancy rate.

Blocking veins: Embolization means "clot making." the doctor injects coils into the testicular veins to block off and scar them. Sometimes a caustic fluid is used instead. Either way, a catheter is inserted in your neck vein and snaked down to the testicular veins where the coils or fluid are released. You and your doctor should discuss best treatment option in your case. See http://www.Mayoclinic.Com/health/va.

Blocking flow: Varicoceles are caused when the valves that prevent backflow in the spermatic vein fail, causing the veins of the scrotum to dilate because of high pressures. Embolization destroys the spermatic vein (which cannot be repaired), allowing collateral veins with functioning valves to take over the flow and normalize the pressures.
