It depends: If the pain is interfering with your life, not getting better or if you have weakness in your foot or leg or any change in bowel or bladder function, see a physician immediately. Most likely the sciatica will get better. But you will probably have recurrences, so you might consider some therapies like manipulation by an osteopathic physician (online aao, cranialacademy) & a strengthening program.

No as most get: Better with time if due to a disc herniation-90% with 75% better by 12 weeks from onset of the pain.

Possible: to treat pain without seeing a physician. Most times sciatica pain will improve within 3-6 weeks on its own, but may take a full year for relief. Will take diligence on your part to maintain exercise program. Many times conservative care can include chiropractic care. if you are not better soon (less than 10 treatments), then consider other options like a spine fellowship trained pain specialist
