A member asked:

If you dislocate your ankle, how long does it take for it to completely lose blood supply?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends of injury: There are varying factors that based on the type of injury to the talus (ankle bone) depends on the severity of injury and prospective amount of loss of blood supply to that bone. The more severe the injury to the talus, the higher the risk of avascular necrosis, or the "death of bone". The hallmark sign is to look for osteoporosis (radiolucent signs) on xray at 6-8 weeks after injury.
