Grafting: Depends on the type of grafting. Taking bone from somewhere else in your mouth and placing it somewhere it is needed is different than using a bone product off the shelf. Are you grafting one tooth or an entire arch? Smaller grafts in my experience are one to two days. Talk to your surgeon.

Be careful: Be careful during the initial 2-3 weeks so as not to disturb the soft tissue healing or the incision. Depending on the type and size of the defect being grafted bone can take up to a year to fully mineralize and mature. Refrain from hard crunchy foods or playing with the sutures with your tongue.

1 week: It depends on what type of bone grafting was done and how many teeth were involved. Most patients are able to control their discomfort with 1 or 2 aleve (naproxen) a day. Ice for the first two days also helps. Larger more in depth grafts may take more time generally no more than 2 week and it should feel pretty normal.
