Pinch test: We all need some subcutaneous fat or we would look really gross. If you want to know if you have excess fat amenable to liposuction, grab the area of concern and lightly pinch it between thumb and forefinger. If there is less than an inch between the two, then it is mostly skin and lipo is unlikely to work. Also if skin is hanging over, lipo alone is unlikely to work.

Nip & Tuck it: While advertisments offer the promise of skin tightening machines, lasers, lotions, potions and peels, most of these technologies are only capable of delivering skin tightening (on a scale of 1 to 10) at a maximum level of 3. If that is all you need these devices may work for you. If, however, you need a level of 7 to 10 skin tightening, skin removal is essentially the most reliable method.

Do a pinch test: Fat and skin are easy to tell apart. The skin is not thick, measuring approximately 1 centimeter.( 1/5 of an inch) fat varies in thickness. The best way to figure out how much fat is located in a certain area, is to do a pinch test. Simply take your thumb and index finger, and pinch your abdomen. If you find a thickness of 1 to 5 inches, this is mostly fat since skin thickness is quite small.

Elasticity: Once your skin has been stretched past its innate elasticity, only plastic surgery can tighten loose skin. Other treatments, such as rf (radio frequency), laser, or creams and lotions only provide minimal improvements. If your skin is youthful and you are not obese, your skin still has a unique degree of elasticity that would allow some degree of return to normal, as after pregnancy.
