Antiinflammatories: Most sore throats are viral - meaning antibiotics do nothing for them. Personally, i like to start some Ibuprofen and salt water gargles whenever i get a sore throat. If i'm having a high fever (>101), I have enlarged lymph nodes, I have pus on my tonsils and i don't have any cough or runny nose, then i suspect strep... And i make a visit to see my doctor!
