BP: May be able to get an intervention (epidural steroid injection or surgery) that can improve the pain...Sometimes if acute, therapy and traction exercises can help without intervention.

Unlikely, however, : You must be proactive in terms of lifestyle changes including: weight control, regular exercising & not smoking. Make sure you have adequate sleep and good vitamin d/calcium intake. Most people remain functional without spine surgery for lower back pain. You may require additional treatment that may include physical rherapy, medication as well as possible pain management techniques.
