Developmental delay?: It is normal for a 4 y/o to be a little picky or a little delayed in potty training. To simply not eat, or refuse to go into the bathroom, however, is unusual. I would contact your pediatrician to determine if there is a texture aversion or aversion to certain stimuli or locations. Specifically look for social or developmental delay, or autistic tendencies.

Resources: Your pediatrician, first, as dr. Amster said, can review your child's growth and development, then make any needed referrals. Your school district's child find team can assess your child for developmental delays that may confer eligibility for early childhood special education. The use of pull-ups has increased the upper limits of " normal" for tt, but behavioral therapy may be needed now.
