First, : First, you can apply an ice pack to help decrease swelling. You can also give Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen to help with the pain. If the finger is deformed, that is a reason to go to the emergency room because that would mean the finger is broken or dislocated. Otherwise, call your child's doctor - they might want to see them in the clinic to examine the finger and possibly get an x-ray to make sure it isn't broken depending on the exam. Of course, use your judgement. If it looks bad, get her checked out. Xray/MD visit: I would recommend placing an ice pack on the finger to reduce swelling. If it remains swollen and painful, she should have an x ray to make sure that it is not broken. Please follow up with your pediatrician, i hope that this helps.
