My 9 yr old son has recently had a urgency to go to the bathroom for a bowel movement. he does not always have a movement when he goes as he states it just felt like he had to go. this just started never had a problem before could this be his nerves?

This could be nerves: but I would also advise looking into physical etiologies. It is also possible that if he tends to hold in his BM's, he may have a dilated rectal area, which would affect the normal urge to have a BM and the ability to go. Either way, I would recommend discussing this with his pediatrician and have him examined.
