Depends on age: Most of the cold medicines have been removed from use for those under 4 to 6 years old. For small infants, nasal saline and suction are the best. After 1 year old, you can do honey, which is a natural cough suppressant. Vicks on the chest in small amounts helps, as does warm steam. If the cough is not resolving, see your doctor.
